Procedure

Alright, we want to hear from all of you. If you write something about the current book(s) we’re reading feel free to tag it “writeworldbookclub” and, if possible, we’ll reblog it or add it to a masterpost at the end of the month.

We also want to know how you want to participate in the book club. We’re here for all you followers - we want to know what you want to get out of this. Live chats? Analyzations of books by the mods? A forum of some sort in addition to tumblr?

For those of you not looking for spoilers of any sort, at the moment, we’ll be hosting a tinychat tomorrow afternoon (EST) for a more general discussion and hopefully another one later on in the week.

Looking For Alaska - I

Let’s start off a little discussion, nice and easy now:

What has been your favorite quote so far in Looking For Alaska? Why is it your favorite? Does it exemplify something about the book for you or is just beautiful on its own?

Reblog or tag writeworldbookclub in your reply!

Which book should we be reading right now? When is/are the first discussion question/s going to be posted?

We’d like to start with Looking for Alaska! We’re working on a set of procedures, which should be up sometime today. That should shed some light on what’s going to happen for the rest of the month!

I bought LfA and IAtM for this club and nothing has happened so far. Are we going to read these books or...?

Yes, we are! You should definitely start reading. The other mods and I are still working out some details… we’re starting up this club again after a long time, and we’re still trying to figure out how it’s going to work. We’ll have more information for you very soon, so look out for that. Thank you for sticking with us through this period of disorganization :)

Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. My reason for choosing it is because, I find it to be an amazingly captivating story. I've never liked first-person perspective, but the way the author uses it to tell a story within a story is amazing. Not only that but it proves to be set in an in-depth, and real world. I have no doubt that once you finish this book you'll be scrambling for the second one.

You sent this a few days too late for it to be included in May’s nominations, but we’ll definitely put it on the list for June! Thanks!

I really love the book selection! LFA and The Messenger are two of my favorite books :)

Oh wow, that’s awesome! I like the book selection, too. I love LFA as well, and I’ve been looking to read I Am The Messenger for a long time. I’m glad you’re excited as we are! :D

May’s Book

The book we’ll be reading for May is Looking for Alaska by John Green. A little more information about the discussions and where they’ll be located will be posted shortly, but for now we’ll just start reading!

In addition, we’ll be reading I Am the Messenger by Marcus Zusak. Whether you chose to read it as well is up to you, but we will be using it to contrast and compare the writing style, plot, and characters.

Hey. I wanted to know how this worked. I mean, you all pick a book, but do you discuss? And do you read it in a week? You know? So many questions. You should really put up a page for all the dumb questions I asked which I'm sure you've been asked a thousand times before. Sorry!

I’m pretty sure that the book decision is made final on the first of the month, and then discussion happens all throughout the month. I’m not sure how much time is generally allotted for reading the books. It hasn’t been very consistent so far - at least not in a way I can see. I’m sorry I don’t know more, and I definitely agree there should be a page explaining it all! I wonder if C or one of the other mods has more information?
